    Why "Green Sweater Girl?"

Our team created the Green Sweater Girl out of a passion for children’s books. Children’s literature already has several great female characters like Amelia Bedelia, Lily of Lily’s Purple Plastic Purse, and Angelina Ballerina. Yet we wanted to add our own unique female character, someone whose books teach life lessons and skills.

The Green Sweater Girl is a relatable “every girl” who goes through many of the same experiences real children do. Her experiences are uniquely relatable to girls and boys. She makes new friends and learns about diversity, disability, and other concepts in the process. She learns about good sportsmanship, getting along with siblings, and how to stick up for friends when it might be easier to laugh along with the children who pick on them. The Green Sweater Girl also visits a variety of places, including the hospital, school, relatives’ homes, and even other countries.
